   I’ve been on kind of an asian inspired kick lately, not sure why, probably has to do with trying to get more iron in my diet by implementing a good variety of sea vegetables. The dressing for this has hints of sweet, salty, and spice from the ginger and it mixes great with fresh julienned vegetables, greens and cabbage.  If you want to make this version quicker, just rough dice your veggies or chop in a food processor. Vegetable julienned by hand can take some time……..You can serve the slaw as is or topped on greens.

Sweet Miso Slaw

3-4 Servings


1 C orange juice

1/4  C chickpea miso

1/4  C sesame seeds, soaked 2 - 4 hours

2 TBSP lemon juice

1 TBSP coconut aminos

1 TBSP grated ginger root

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1/2 tsp onion powder


1/2 C Red Pepper, julienned

1/2 C Zucchini, julienned 

1/2 C Carrots, julienned

1/2 C Sprouts

1/2 C Cucumber, julienned

1 C Mushrooms, sliced

1 C Cabbage, shredded

2 Green Onions, fine sliced

Optional 2 C mixed greens, rough chopped


Place all ingredients into the Vita-Mix container(or blender) in the order listed and secure lid with plunger. Select Variable 1

Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10. Blend for 30 -45 seconds or until smooth.
